Sewage damage requires more than standard water extraction because wastewater can contain contaminants and can spread through flooring, drywall, insulation, and other porous materials.
What the Job Involves
The affected area is assessed to determine the source and extent of the sewage intrusion. Contaminated water is removed, unsalvageable porous materials are identified, and affected surfaces are cleaned and treated as appropriate.
Signs You Need It
- Sewage backup or overflow
- Contaminated standing water
- Strong sewage odors
- Wet or contaminated flooring
- Sewage-stained drywall
- Basement or bathroom backups
How the Work Goes
The affected area is isolated as needed before contaminated water is removed using appropriate extraction equipment. Porous materials that cannot be safely restored may be removed. Hard surfaces are cleaned and disinfected, while remaining moisture is addressed with air movers and dehumidifiers.
What Affects the Cost
Cost depends on the size of the affected area, contamination level, water volume, materials involved, accessibility, and amount of material requiring removal. Sewage affecting walls, insulation, or subflooring can require more extensive cleanup.
